(T3)Week11: Advanced Body Mechanics Planning (Blocking)

What is blocking?
  • a word came from film and TV (not originally from animation)
  • conveying ideas from animation
  • skeleton of the animation

Blocking is a work which came from

Reference and Blocking(/final animation) should not be exactly the same

  • should have a bit changes
    • eg more tilted heads to the audience, not standing up as straight as the reference
    • be mindful of shapes contrast

when things are moving fast —> will not see the flickering of the models

Tips for Blocking (getting the idea out and coveying it)

  • need to be efficent
  • do copy and paste

hands and fingers needs to be fixed too

  • not just pams/thrist

Dont rely to heavily on the timing of the reference

  • can use other ways like anamonolok tool

Be sure to change between FK/IK

  • whenever necessary

when using stepped

  • need to check in spline, add poses if needed

Mental Tip

anything cannot be perfect —> you need to finish it and improve it later on

  • having sth finshed is better than having sth perfect but not finished

***everybody parts should move at the same time, keyed at the same time

  • move arm —> shoulder affected

Progress on my shot
